Slowing down and digging in the dirt!
We've had so much fun photographing these sessions, and every family has had a story to tell, so we decided to do a little interview with each family and post it with our image spotlights.
Meet the Mashburn Family!
What was your favorite thing about your session?
Looking forward to doing something different one day.
What was your favorite activity during quarantine?
Jason says scootering. Tara says planting
What was your least favorite thing about quarantine?
Did you acquire any new hobbies or learn any new skills?
Gardening, wall framing, duct work, dryer repair, how to make sourdough from a starter- feeding it every 12 hours instead of using yeast, meeting our neighbors.
What are some things you did to have fun outside?
We expanded our garden- dug in the dirt- laid mulch- planted seeds- started seeds inside to move outside- planted grass- dug grass up. Went on walks, scootered, played in the Highlands Ranch open space. Talked to the birds, bunnies, bugs- rollies, grasshoppers, moth cocoons. We spend 3-7 hours a day outside.
What was your favorite thing to snack on?
Pretzels and dip
What are some things you did to help you feel connected with others?
Jason - Howl
Tara - Facetime
What is your favorite memory from quarantine?
Jason - the first day the baby and I were gardening by ourselves and we kept digging up toy balls and she was so excited.
Tara - Sitting on the front steps eating meals with the baby and saying hello to everyone that walks or rides by.
What are you most excited to do after the restrictions are lifted?
Go to Yellowstone
What have you learned?
Tara- I am happier not going and doing all the time. Just being is great. There is so much less pressure. The baby is learning just as much being home as she was when we were doing “enrichment” classes and activities. Seeing her growth is a joy.
What are you most thankful for about this time?
Slowing down, not feeling the pressure to “do” everything I felt like I was “supposed” to do for me, my family our kids. Getting to spend all day with my family and not separated all day to leave and go to work.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
This was an unfortunate time in history. It has really changed our life’s and made us realize what we really want and how we want to live the rest of this life.
